When hosting a children's birthday party, there are 3 main venues you can have the party at. Each has its advantages and disadvantages:
Specific Party Venue: A specific party venues can include bowling alleys, children's run-around play centres etc. Holding parties at these types of venues can be good as they will usually run everything for you, which means there is nothing for you to worry about. They have also done these parties many times before so they know exactly what they are doing and will stick to a schedule which helps with your planning. The negatives with hosting a party at such a venue, is that there is not much freedom, they will only have their set parties which they can offer. These parties can also be expensive to run, usually starting from between £10-20 a head depending on the type of party. A Local Hall: A local hall can be a fantastic option if your are running the party yourself, or hiring an entertainer. Having it in a hall means there will be plenty of room for children to run around and for the games/activities. Also there will be enough chair's, tables and kitchen space for the party food too. The negatives of hiring a hall is that you will have to pay for the venue, this is usually fairly inexpensive, but cost can vary greatly. The other negative is that you will have to travel to the venue early on the day, to decorate the hall, and set any equipment up. At Home: Hosting a party at home can be convenient as you can get all the decorations set up the day before. It also means you don't have to travel anywhere so there is no chance of being late, or pushed for time. There is no venue cost to hosting it at home, which is another advantage. The negatives are, that there will be lots of children running around, so things can get broken. Also, there will usually not be as much room for playing games compared to a hall. Hosting a party at home is best for summer parties, which can be done outside in your garden, giving plenty more room for activities and for children to run around. As a professional magician and children's entertainer, i get to perform at heaps of parties. Here is a list of the most popular party themes i have come across.
- Pirates and Princesses - This is by far the most common party theme from my experience. It's a great option as there is plenty of different outfits for both boys and girls. Also, the children will probably already have an outfit they can wear. If not, they are both easy outfits to put together from regular clothes. - Superheros - The superhero theme is a fantastic option for a children's birthday party, almost every child has a superhero costume, and they're super easy to come across if not! It's also easy to get hold of decorations and tableware both online and on the high street.Superhero parties are amazing when the guests are both boys and girls! - Frozen - Frozen has been hard to get away from for the last 2 years. its still a very popular option for a party theme. The frozen theme is best suited when most of the guests are girls, as its much easier to find a girls frozen costume, than it is to find a boys one! It's a great option as there is plenty of themed party decorations and accessories and children are still crazy about frozen. - Magic -Being a Children's magician, i see this theme a lot, its easy for the parents and children to put together a costume with clothes they already have. Decorations are also simple as you can get playing cards (and extra large A4 playing cards) at most toy shops. Magic is very popular for children of all ages so this is another good option. - Star Wars - The Star Wars theme, from my experience, has mainly been at parties with all boy guests. however, i have seen girls really enjoy the themed games and activities too. Star wars parties have seen a rise in popularity over the past few months (due to the new film release) so it should be easy to find costumes, decorations and tableware! How Much Space Do You need?
I don't need too much room for my performances (see below), for full magic parties, i will need a room big enough to hold the games. Mystery and magic show -approximately 2 x 3 metres + Space for the children to sit down. Mini Illusion Show - approximately 3 x 3 metres + Space for the children to watch! How Many Children can be invited to the party? You can invite as many guests as you like to the party, the show is suitable for any size audience! Do i need to hire a hall, or can i hold the party at home? the choice is completely up to you on whether you hire a hall or have the party at your home. If you hire a hall there is an additional cost, but i will allow more space for the children to run around! Can the party be outside? i'm more than happy to perform either of the shows outside, although its much easier to hold my shows inside to avoid wind, sun being in anyone's eyes or rain! What do i need to provide? i Provide everything i need to run the parties and perform my shows including tables and equipment. All you should provide is some children! Where are you based/What area do you cover? i'm a children's party entertainer based in fleet, Hampshire. I cover within 50 miles of fleet, including farnborough children's parties, aldershot, hook farnham, alton and basingstoke, just to name a few! When should i make a booking? i usually get booked up around 2 months in advance. its always better to book your party in as early as possible, but i sometimes get last minute openings, so its always worth making an enquiry! How do i make a booking? Simply click here and make an enquiry to see if i'm available, and i will guide you through the simple process. if i'm available i will just need a few simple details, a deposit is also required to complete the booking process. |
